About PSHG

The Parkinson’s Self Help Group (PSHG) has been supporting people with Parkinson’s and their families for decades. Set up initially as a monthly meeting, we have grown rapidly and in 2003 moved into the Weaver’s Cottages, which now is home to our one-stop-centre for Parkinson’s sufferers, their families and carers.

Our work wouldn’t be possible without the dedication of the PSHG team, donors and so many volunteers who make the centre the success it is today.

Our mission...

To create a unique, happy and sustainable atmosphere for people with Parkinson’s, their Carers and their families. Where they are safe, secure, supported and can be themselves. Exchange and share experiences and problems in a friendly relaxing environment
Where people with Parkinson’s, their Carers and their families can obtain information and advice on all aspects of living with their conditions to improve their quality of life, through friendship, encouragement and social activities.

Where to find us

Our headquarters at Weaver’s Cottages (23-27 Wellwynd, Airdrie) is open and staffed 5 days a week between the hours of 9am and 8pm (Mon – Thurs), and 9am – 3pm on a Friday. Parkinson’s sufferers, carers and the general public can ‘drop in’ during these periods for personal help and advice in an informal and supportive setting.
